The program consists of a Practical Assessment Exercise and Written Test papers on Equipment and Principles & Procedures for office engineers (Level 2), drillers (Level 3) and drilling supervisors (Level 4) based on the IWCF/IADC Certification Standards. The Certification Standards are based on a detailed analysis of the well control knowledge that Drillers and Supervisors require, and the practical tasks that they have to master, in order to perform their jobs responsibly. The standards have been devised so that the measurement of their skills and knowledge can be assessed systematically. The method of assessing the performance of an individual, at both level 3 and level 4, is divided into the following sections:
• A simulated practical exercise to assess practical skills
• Written test papers on Equipment and Principles & Procedures to assess knowledge based skills
Aimed at personnel who have secondary involvement in well operations, for example office based staff or third parties who are involved in rig operations. The course is also a useful e-learning tool for students and graduates wanting to enter into the industry, or those who simply have an interest in learning about well control.
